This work builds upon innovative research undertaken in SCD into the underlying fundamental mathematics.  The Computational Mathematics group specialises in the solution of large sparse systems of linear equations, and of large-scale linear and nonlinear optimization problems. Members of the Group are involved in many collaborative ventures including projects with researchers both in the UK and overseas.

Links to the mathematics software developed in SCD can be found here. For more detailed information about the work in computational mathematics that happens in SCD, see http://www.numerical.rl.ac.uk.
