I'm the service manager for the SCARF HPC Cluster, this means I'm basically responsible for everything related to the service - from meeting with our user communities in the STFC facilities such as ISIS and CLF, planning the future strategic direction of SCARF and buying and commissioning new hardware for the cluster through to ensuring that the helpdesk tickets are answered, and that broken hardware gets fixed. Fortunately, I don't need to do this all on my own, as I lead a small but dedicated team.

My current areas of interest are automating the deployment and management of large numbers of servers; resource management software, and methods of linking low latency fabrics.

I studied for a BSc(Hons) Computer Science degree at the University of Edinburgh. After graduation I worked for a small telecoms software company for a year before joining STFC.
