CoSeC’s Director, Barbara Montanari represented STFC’s Scientific Computing Department (SCD) in a panel discussion and highlighted how ISIS and SCD’s computing capabilities can be used together in complementary research.
The panel discussion followed talks by users from Imperial, Queen Mary and Cambridge universities. Having experienced members of the ISIS user community in the meeting as well as potential new users, meant that it was also an opportunity to discuss some of the practicalities of accessing the facility and to share the positive experiences of working with the ISIS source.
The aim of the meeting was to provide a forum to discuss how the capabilities and staff at ISIS might enable Science and Engineering South academics to realise their research goals using neutron, muon and computational tools. The idea came out of one of the strategic meetings with STFC and Imperial College, where an event was proposed to consolidate existing collaborations between Imperial College and ISIS, and to seed new ones.
After the panel discussion the delegates were able to network over a poster session featuring some ISIS beamline scientists who had come along to showcase their work. It made for a very informative event for all who attended: thanks must go to the ISIS staff who were part of making it a success.
