I joined STFC in 2018 after graduating with an MSci Physics degree from the University of Birmingham. As I came to the end of my degree, I found myself torn between doing a PhD and going into industry. STFC offered an opportunity to stay involved in science, while also providing the structure I wanted from a job in industry.
So far, I've worked on studying materials for hydrogen storage, and developed software to allow other people to test their scientific software on our high-performance computing system. I've also been able to develop my soft skills by getting involved in outreach, giving talks, and managing work experience students.
